Boss Aura Icons

Summery

Nameplate icons Boss Auras are one of the newer features to DBM added in legion somewhat replace some of lost functionality of HudMap. HudMap was all powerful and could still somewhat automate or draw on world which blizzard doesn't want. Nameplate auras are more about helping identify things in clutter without any real kind of automation. An example being mob fixates. If there are a pile of parasites on G'huun in Uldir or plants on Botanist back from Nighthold, etc; you need to be able to identify very quickly which one is chasing you. Depending on UI mods you already have you may have nameplates that show an aggro border or you're super human and can see subtle difference blizzard puts on nameplate sizes based on aggro etc. If you're the average user, you probably don't have such perception or already configured mods to identify specific nameplates in a crowd for you.

What it does:

This is where DBM comes in. The nameplate aura feature simply adds icons over relevant nameplates to help you identify important events in a crowd of nameplates. A mob fixating you, an important buff or debuff on an enemy that effects encounter and requires action etc. These nameplates can be enabled/disabled on a per encounter basis within any bosses option panels right under a convenient nameplate header.

How to configure/disable it:

If you don't want to use feature at all, then you can disable it completely with a single box per usual. You can find this box in Nameplate options panel (top toggle for boss aura icons) or in Global Disables (an are in DBM dedicated specifically to allow you to enable/disable any feature of DBM all in one place). DBM always aims to be able to disable any feature globally without having to do it for every single encounter.

Ability Cooldown Icons

Summery

Nameplate icons for ability cooldowns is latest nameplate feature to be added to DBM. For a while it was a Plater exclusive feature for end of Season 1 Dragonflight and entirety of Season 2. Season 3 Dragonflight and beyond, the feature is now expanded to ALL nameplate addons (including stock blizzard plates). If you are a plater user it's still in same place it always was and still configured there. If you already have this setup through plater than there are no real changes for you.

What it does:

Certain DBM cooldown timers will also (or instead) use nameplates to display ability CDs directly on targets. Here are two example pictures to show it in action. First on trash and another on a boss. It's strongest effectiveness is on multi target trash pulls or boss fights with adds that have their own CDs separate from the main boss. Trash Cooldown Icon Example Boss cooldown Icon example

How to configure/disable it:

Below you will see configuration for both DBM and Plater. For DBM you will refer to top image entirely. For Plater you'll refer to second image for configuring it. Note that if it's disabled in plater but enabled in DBM, it'll print a message notifying you to either enable it in Plater or disable it in DBM. This is to ensure that Plater users are notified it exists (since it defaults to off in Plater). To fully disable Nameplate Cooldown Icons, just toggle second box that image marks as toggle.
